Testing the Waters

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a networking meeting and one of the topics that was suggested for discussion during one of the break-out sessions was “What do you do to test the waters?” I thought that was an interesting question as my immediate response to that…

Procrastination – clear this with Heart Metta.

I had a mini breakthrough last week and it brought me huge A-ha moment. Long story short, I had bought an insert for my desk months ago, thinking it would help organize the stuff in my desk drawer. The insert arrived and every day I would see this thing sitting in the corner of my room. It was hard to miss since it was 18 inches wide and 14 inches deep! That thing sat there for five months. I would look at it and give myself the usual “ I’ll do it soon.” I really wore my crown of procrastination well. Looking at it for yet another time, I asked myself why I had not organized my drawer. Nothing obvious came to mind, I really had no excuses or reasons.

New moon, new beginnings…

Recently I broke an old pattern of procrastination. I am not sure when that old pattern was established; whenever I created it, I did a really good job! Often we go into our heads to analyze, dissect and cross-examine all the reasons why we do or omit to do something. I have discovered the best results occur and habits and patterns change when I ask myself this one question: “Does this attitude and behaviour serve me?” When we decide it no longer serves our best interests and our best interests matter it is a lot easier to shift to a new way of thinking and behaving. When we change our internal reality, our outside world changes too!
